Care Watch Toronto is a voluntary non-profit group of individuals and organizations with a primary focus on in-home long-term care in Ontario.
Some of the issues we face are
- increasing numbers of infirm elderly and physically disabled who require in-home care;
- inappropriate and quick discharge from hospital to home of patients who still require medical treatment;
- the reduction of in-home care hours for disabled persons, often arbitrarily;
- high turnover of service providers, resulting in a lack of continuity for the recipients of in-home care; and
- the marked decline in real caring to clients. (Discovered through our PhoneLine Project, sessions of "The Caring Game," and our community education visits.)
Care Watch Toronto is dedicated to improving the situation.
We believe that the elderly, infirm, and physically challenged deserve respect, quality of life, and the opportunity for self-determination.
Quality in-home care benefits society at large.
